Beach badges are required on all Long Beach Island ocean and bay beaches as long as the lifeguards are on duty, normally mid-June through Labor Day Saturday. Children under 12 do not need badges. In some towns, senior citizens can obtain a free badge at the municipal office.

Badges are good only for the beaches in the municipality in which they were purchased. You may purchase badges on the beach from a beach badge checker or through the municipality. Long Beach Township encompasses Brant Beach thru North Beach Haven, North Beach, Loveladies, High Bar Harbor and Holgate.

Barnegat Light, 609-494-9196 Season passes are $20 when purchased prior to Jun. 15th, $30 after, Seniors are $8. Weekly passes are $15. Weekday passes are $5. Seniors (65+) and Kids under 12 are free.

Lifeguards

The start of the season for the lifeguards on Long Beach Island is mid- June to Labor Day, Monday thru Sunday.

Information you may not know:

• You must swim between the flags on either side of the guard stand for your safety.
• Picnics and alcoholic beverages are not allowed, footballs, Frisbees and kites may also be prohibited, but check with the lifeguard on duty.
• Surfing is limited to certain hours check with the guard
• Use of rafts or Styrofoam boards is at the discretion of lifeguards
• Stay off jetties
• Do not walk on or disturb the dunes (you will be fined)
• Keep the beaches clean

Beachwheels

Beachwheels is a program that provides wheelchairs to people with disabilities who are living in or visiting Long Beach Island. The Beachwheels are made from lightweight PVC tubing and oversized wheels so that they can handle difficult terrain such as the beach. The Beachwheels program is funded by donations from Long Beach Island businesses and service organizations and by contributions from individuals.
